I have been told that I have to get the mini off the drive. We are having it extended so that we can fit our expanding car collection on it. My son has gone and got himself an MX5 to restore. I have had to get the car back onto its wheels so I can at least push it into next door's drive whilst ours is being done. I first got some help to lift up the shell so the stands could be moved and I could use the jack to lower it the rest of the way down onto the subframe . After several attempts to get all the holes to line up I gave up and went back inside to sulk. The next day I tried to get it back together again with still no success so after some shouting I decided to mount the steering rack back into the car first. Once I managed to get the rack back on (more shouting) I could lower the car back down and then struggle to get all the holes lined up and some bolts in. Not all the holes met so I only put bolts in the holes that lined up just so that it can be moved. I did try the inlet manifold to see if it fits, and of course it seems a little too big, I don't think it is a standard part as it has something written on it on a polished plate and it seems to look a little bigger than ones I have seen in other minis I have looked at.
Well that's it for the front of the car for now to the back. Looking a little closer I have found a large lump of fiberglass where there should be metal ...So out comes the angle grinder and more noise and dust was created .
